- Le Morne Brabant - A UNESCO World Heritage mountain and one of the world's great kite-surfing spots, its dramatic peak carries a deeper history too: a former refuge for escaped slaves, whose story still shapes the site today. Sunrise hikes reward the climb with views across the entire southwest coast.
- Chamarel - Home to the seven-coloured earth, a geological rarity found almost nowhere else, alongside a 100-metre waterfall, a working rum distillery, and the Ebony Forest, a quiet conservation project restoring one of the island's rarest native habitats.
- Black River Gorges - Mauritius's largest national park, and the last refuge of the endemic pink pigeon and echo parakeet, both brought back from the brink of extinction. Trails wind past waterfalls and dense native forest, best explored slowly.
- Île aux Cerfs - A privately owned leisure island off the east coast, home to a championship golf course, white sand beaches, and a full day of water sports, best reached by private boat charter for those who'd rather skip the crowds of the public ferry.

How to get there
Fly into Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) through London (Air Mauritius or British Airways), Paris (Air France or Air Mauritius), Dubai (Emirates), or Istanbul (Turkish Airlines) - each offering a nonstop final leg into Mauritius. From there, most resorts are a 45-minute road transfer away. Leshy arranges helicopter transfers for guests headed to more remote villas.
Seasons
When to visit
May - December brings Mauritius at its most reliable: cooler, drier air, calm seas, and ideal conditions for hiking Black River Gorges or diving the reefs.
January - April shifts the island's mood entirely, hot, humid, and carrying real cyclone risk (highest January - March), but also its lushest, greenest landscapes and its lowest rates for those willing to watch the forecast.
